Art provides a sense of identity for Jacki with spontaneous discoveries and colour explorations that bring an 'inner life' to her work.
Born with a natural gift and passion for light and colour, Jacki has spent a lifetime experimenting with numerous artistic methods, refining and developing her process to create fine art that illuminates a personal connection to nature’s beauty.
Over the last fifteen years, Jacki has immersed herself in the 5th century B.C. painting medium of Encaustic-wax, reviving this ancient art form. Working with this versatile medium and various contemporary methods, Jacki has developed her own unique application and style.
Jacki’s pieces speak to an Australia we all know and love. They tell the story of vast and changing landscapes through all their seasons. Each unique piece Jacki so lovingly creates, touches and impresses the individual with a deeply personal inner sentiment, evoking feelings and memory. It’s as if the light and colour speak to an innate part of us which invokes our own interpretation. This form of art is known as ‘Biomorphic’, whereby imagery and design elements of naturally occurring patterns or shapes reminiscent of nature and living organisms are abstractly observed in a painting. Jacki’s commitment to her art has seen her claim many awards throughout her career.
Jacki’s truly unique original works are now available as museum grade Giclee prints for private and commercial projects in customisable styles and sizes.
Artist Bio
In my childhood years I was fortunate to inherit a creative spirit & encouragement with colour and design from my artistic mother which led me to pursue art & teaching studies.
My life experiences have taken various diverse art directions, with a preoccupation with fashion as well as interior and furniture design. My home and family life has strongly influenced me over time as well, allowing me to grow and develop a clearer awareness of my own personal place within the environment. Influences have also come from Australian artists like John Olsen, Aboriginal art and spontaneous discoveries I find in nature.
My life drawings are a culmination of various mediums including crayon, charcoal, pastels, ink and paints.
I'm very excited working more recently with the versatile and ancient Encaustic Wax as this underlying theme continues to develop with the interaction of painterly colour and form. It is unlike any other medium with a dynamic quality through numerous techniques and unique combinations of mixed media, expressing a sense of aesthetic unity in my artworks.
For some time now, connections with overseas artists and involvement with various local art groups, has allowed me to remain true to myself while providing a sense of belonging and identity.
